Factory Reset / Hard Reset Android

Ways of Resetting Android

There are two ways for resetting Android:

1. Factory Reset (Soft Reset)
2. Hard Reset


Note: Backup your Data before resetting your Android Phone.



Factory Reset

Factory Reset restores your phone to the factory version of software and your android settings. It is not an in-depth reset of your Android Phone. It is done to revert back to default configurations.


Method for Factory Reset

1. Open Android Settings.

2. In the settings menu, find Backup and Reset and click on it.

3. Then click on Factory data reset and reset your android.

4. You will be asked to enter your Mobile's Password to erase all information.

5. After reset is done, click on reboot.

6. Congratulations, you are done.



Hard Reset

Hard reset wipes your Android software completely and formats everything deeply. There are no chances of data recovery after a hard reset. A hard reset is done through Android Recovery.

Method to Hard Reset

1. Power off your mobile phone.

2. Press and hold the Power Button + Volume Up Button + Home Button until the Samsung Logo appears on the screen.

3. Now, release just the Volume up Button and wait until the recovery screen appears and then release the other buttons also when the recovery screen appears.

4. Use volume keys to move to the wipe data factory reset option and then select it using the power button.

5. If it asks for confirmation, then select yes.

6. Now, your smartphone will reboot.

7. Congratulations, you are done.
